Iman de Vries-Maarse is a director and producer based in the Netherlands.

Through Cooltuur, he works on documentary-driven films and formats for organisations. Much of the work starts with subjects that aren’t easy to tell and need structure, attention and the right approach to actually land.

His work sits somewhere between substance and entertainment, often starting from an idea or concept that needs to be shaped into something that actually holds attention.

Before starting Cooltuur, he worked in senior editorial roles at Talpa and BNNVARA, developing formats and working on video content, both in front of and behind the camera. He also led online content at VU Amsterdam, focusing on strategy and storytelling within a complex organisational context.

As a director, he focuses on shaping the story and creating a clear line. As a producer, he brings together the right people to make it work.

Alongside Cooltuur, he runs Indiana Midas Pictures, a production label focused on original fiction and documentary projects, where he develops and writes new ideas for film, series and audio projects.
