We like working with organisations that actually have something to say, and want to turn that into something with substance and real entertainment value.
About Cooltuur
Cooltuur is an independent production studio based in the Netherlands, founded by filmmaker and producer Iman de Vries-Maarse.
Iman works as a director and producer, focusing on documentary-driven films and entertainment formats for organisations. The work sits somewhere between documentary and editorial storytelling, depending on what the project needs.
Cooltuur doesn’t work with a fixed in-house crew. Instead, it’s a small and flexible setup, bringing together the right people for each project. Cinematographers, editors, composers and other specialists, depending on the story.
Projects range from smaller, character-driven pieces to longer series and formats that take more time to unfold.
Our Approach
Substance doesn’t have to be boring. And entertainment doesn’t have to be shallow.
We think a good story should be at the core of every production.
Most organisations already have strong and interesting stories. They just don’t always know how to shape them or where the strength of the story really sits.
Telling a story means holding attention. Knowing where to focus. Building tension, adding emotion and working towards something that actually lands.
That’s what we do at Cooltuur.
What we make
We make documentary-driven work and entertainment formats in different forms. Portraits, short documentaries, branded films, podcast series and formats.
Most of the time, a single film isn’t enough. It’s part of something bigger.
That’s why we often work in series and formats. Giving a subject more space, more perspective and more time to develop.
Always with substance at the core, but built with enough energy, rhythm and entertainment to actually hold attention.
The form follows the story. Not the other way around.
Organisations we work with
We work with organisations that deal with complex subjects and need a better way to tell them.
We take that complexity and turn it into something people can actually follow and stay with.
