Je bent jong en… | Romay – Crohn’s & Finding Stability
A documentary portrait of a young woman with Crohn’s disease who relies on routine and structure to stay balanced.
Episode
Part of the documentary series Je bent jong en…, portraying young people living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.
Romay (25) finds peace in routine. Daily walks help her clear her mind and keep anxiety under control. Spontaneous plans, such as going out for dinner, can still feel overwhelming.
Supported by her mother, she navigates independence while managing the unpredictability of Crohn’s. Her story explores control, vulnerability and resilience in everyday life.
Format
Je bent jong en… is a documentary series portraying young people living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.
Each episode follows one participant in their daily life. We film them where they find energy and balance: at the gym, in the kitchen, at work or with friends. The series is shot in a run-and-gun style to keep the stories spontaneous and grounded in real moments.
A second layer is added through reactions from Dr. Zlatan, who watches along and responds to key moments from the participants’ stories. His reflections provide medical context and challenge common misconceptions without becoming prescriptive.
