Je bent jong en… | Bobbie – Crohn’s & Choosing to Live

A documentary portrait of a 25-year-old living with Crohn’s disease, balancing freedom, friendship and physical limits.

Episode

Part of the documentary series Je bent jong en…, portraying young people living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.

Bobbie (25) refuses to let Crohn’s define his life. He values mental well-being over strict physical rules and continues to enjoy going out with friends, even when it sometimes comes at a cost. Building Lego and watching films help him unwind.

His story explores autonomy, consequence and the ongoing negotiation between enjoying life and managing illness.

Format

Je bent jong en… is a documentary series portraying young people living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.

Each episode follows one participant in their daily life. We film them where they find energy and balance: at the gym, in the kitchen, at work or with friends. The series is shot in a run-and-gun style to keep the stories spontaneous and grounded in real moments.

A second layer is added through reactions from Dr. Zlatan, who watches along and responds to key moments from the participants’ stories. His reflections provide medical context and challenge common misconceptions without becoming prescriptive.
